Mindfulness can be defined as the intentional awareness of the body, mind, and spirit in the present moment without judgment. It’s being aware of the breath. Simply observing positive and negative thoughts and feelings. It’s slowing down to feel the sensations in the rhythms of everyday tasks. Mindfulness is a practice that can be done at any moment.
Over the past year, I have been studying and practicing mindfulness. A Mindful Moment is a reflection on my experience integrating mindfulness into my life. Practices such as deep belly breathing, mindful movement with yoga and dance, and meditations have helped me manage my stress, ruminating thoughts, and self-esteem. The series includes documentation of practice along with abstractions of natural observations. A Mindful Moment serves as a chance to be present with one’s self and explore the world with a sense of wonder.
To the viewer, allow yourself to be open to the sensations and thoughts that arise.
Take a deep breath,
unclench your jaw,
let your shoulders fall away from your ears,
and allow yourself to just be.
